Sony SS-7200 ULM
Early 70s Retro Speakers
Finished in real walnut veneer, these original early 1970s ‘Made in Japan’ retro style enclosures are solid, heavy, in very good condition and sound astonishing.
ULM (Ultra Linear Magnet Path) was a specialized magnetic circuit design used in some vintage Sony speakers, like this SS-7200, in order to reduce non-linear distortion.
The original owner wasn’t aware the front grilles are removable and had a little freak-out when I pulled one off. Therefore…you can be confident the drivers are all original, un-molested and in perfect condition. Unlike other vintage speakers with foam driver surrounds, the bass and mid-range drivers utilize fibre surrounds, which will not disintegrate or rot.
