Classic 1970’s ‘Monitor HPD’ Dual Concentric (HPD/315/8)

You already know all about these legendary British loudspeakers so we won’t be boring you with all the details. In terms of chronology the Devon dates from the mid 1970’s and were part of the classic range that included the Eaton (10 inch), Cheviot (12 inch) and Berkeley & Arden (15 inch).

Previously purchased from the BBC by a now retired BBC engineer, these are working perfectly and sound exactly as they should - absolutely beautiful. The drive units have just professionally re-foamed using genuine Tannoy kits rather than the cheap foam surrounds currently available. These stunning loudspeakers perform just like new and sound exactly as they should. The foam surrounds will not need to be renewed for at least another 20 years. The cones are perfect. There is a little dimple in one of the centre dust-caps but this doesn’t really show up in the pictures and has absolutely no effect on performance.

The cabinets are the original Tannoy Devon enclosures. The previous owner informed us that the cabinets were re-finished in a light oak veneer by the BBC workshop many years ago.
