This quality turntable/Tonearm/cartridge combination is in full & perfect working order.
Turntable: The motor is smooth and whisper quiet, the bearing is perfect and freshly lubricated, 33 & 45 speeds are rock solid, accurate and stable, the drive-belt is new and the suspension is fine. Comes with 45 RPM record centre adaptor (see pictures 8 and 9).
Tonearm: SME 3009 Series 2 Improved, in excellent condition and full working order. Complete with finger-lift, bias weight and rider weight. Full left and right signal continuity, knife-edge bearings and geometry are fine and the dashpot (arm lowering mechanism) operates smooth and slow - just as it should.
Cartridge: Ortofon VMS20E Mk2 Very good quality MM (moving magnet) cartridge, fitted with genuine and correct Ortofon stylus, with perfect tip (see picture 6). Hi-Fi Choice awarded ‘Best Buy’ status (see pictures 17 and 18).
The deck itself is in very nice condition, with just a few tiny blemishes in line with its age. The acrylic cover is also in very nice condition, with some polishing swirls but no cracks or chips - and the lid hinges are fine.
A lovely iconic vintage turntable / tonearm / cartridge combination, ready to plug & play when connected to your amplifier’s MM phono inputs.
